What's the difference between a photographer, videographer and content creator?

As a content creator, this is one of my most commonly asked questions at wedding fairs. People that reach out to me generally already know what I do and have searched for a wedding content creator, but I also see it time and time again on wedding Facebook groups too!

Photographers I don't think a wedding photographer needs much explanation, they're well-established in the industry and most choose a photographer as a minimum to capture their key moments throughout the day. This usually includes a couple's photoshoot (or two) and family portraits, as well as of course lots of snaps throughout the day as it unfolds. A lot of photographers have a chilled style, documenting the day, this can vary - some can be very formal and have a list of criteria they'd like to capture.

Usual delivery time for a full gallery is 6 - 12 weeks. It's worth checking with your photographer as this could vary depending on what time of year you're getting married.

Some photographers offer a few highlight pictures with a few days of your wedding too, this is something to ask your photographer.

Videographers

Videographers capture the key moments of your wedding day in a cinematic movie, so you can watch yourself on your tele, or laptop in high quality. They film using high-end video cameras, microphones and sometimes even lights, so you get the full Hollywood experience.

They strive to tell the story of your day, with a mixture of cinematic visuals, hand-picked music made specifically for film and high-quality audio.

The average delivery is around 12 weeks and the length is usually around 15-25 minutes and highlight video length is around 5 minutes.

Content creators

Content creators film everything on an iPhone, usually in 4K! They often have their phone's mounted on a gimbal or tripod. Some have two phones to capture all of the action, and some have wireless microphones that transmit high-quality audio straight to the phone. If you wanted speeches and ceremony in full - check that your content creator offers this.

Most content creators do not direct shots, they are there to capture all of the behind the scenes as it unfolds. It is not uncommon for a content creator to turn down a job if no photographer is present.

Having a content creator means that you get hundreds of unedited photos and videos the very next day. It also allows your guests to put their phones away and relax, knowing that everything is still being captured.

You will receive a highlight video that tells the story of your day and is ready for social media. But just because it's a 'content creator' does not mean it has to be posted to social media. If you're not big on posting to platforms, you can keep your video private and cherish all the memories straight on your phone.

Delivery of content is usually within 24 hours, and an edited highlight video that's around 3 minutes long within 48 hours.

When choosing who you want alongside you to capture your day consider things like... Do I vibe with this person? These people will be by your side on one of the biggest and most special days of your life! So it's important you get along with them and they match your vision.

Do I love their previous work and is it my style?

And remember - you can never have too much content of your big day and lots of people are choosing all 3 to capture their wedding! A content creator is not here to replace a videographer and photographer, we're here to comlpement them and give you even more memories to cherish from your dream day. How do photographers, videographers and content creators work alongside each other? - Seamlessly!
